“工资”
salary → salt曾被视为珍品，由其衍生的salary也因而并非是任何人都能领取的工资。领salary的人比拿wages的人干更“高贵”的工作：前者多为脑力劳动者，后者多为体力劳动者。也正因为领salary的人地位高、生括宽裕，不像地位卑微、生活拮据的拿wages的人急用钱，所以尽管salary与wages都指定期工资，但salary常按月支付。
pay → 是“工资”的最常用语，可代替salary与wages。
