► width the distance from one side of something to the other: The width of the river is about 25 feet. The pool is fifty feet in length and twenty feet in width.
► breadth (formal) breadth means the same as width but is more formal or literary: He traveled the length and breadth of the country.
► depth the distance from the front of an object to the back.
